Hamburg German Advent Christmas Calendar - Sellmer Adventkalender
The advent calendar tradition dates back to 1851 in Protestant parts of Germany. The first Advent calendar with little doors was printed in the early 1900s and continues to this day.
This German advent calendar with glitter accents depicts the Rathaus, the town hall in Hamburg, Germany at Christmas. The details of the town hall are carefully reproduced on paper in fine detail. Multiple Christmas trees (one real, one constructed of lights) brighten the square brimming with Christmas market booths and people. The setting sun glows in the sky and echo's the colors of the market. Windows of this calendar reveal other famous buildings, landmarks & symbols of Hamburg.
The tradition is to open a window every day from December 1st to December 24th.
